Music in and of itself is helpful for those suffering from depression, but be cautious about the kids of music you choose to listen to. Shy away from music that makes you sad. This style of music may cause you to focus on your negative feelings and indulge your negative thought patterns. This is not helpful for those suffering from depression.

For too long, our society has stigmatized mood disorders, and people have gone without treatment. Increasingly we can discuss these matters openly.
